Just curious as to the public opinion on the coronation on the weekend.
I can probably guess what ATOTs opinion is but I was curious as to how it's being portrayed in the media in the US.
Is there much coverage? Any significant difference in the feel of royal coverage now that Lizzy is dead and Charlie boy is in charge?

I mean I'm conflicted. On the one hand it's an archaic tradition that cements the inequality in society and has undertones of genetic superiority and crazy theories that harm society, on the other hand it's an extra bank holiday so I get paid extra for ignoring it.

Because of his coronation they moved some Cambridge examinations, so I now have to go on work on one of our national holidays. *shakes angry fist*

otherwise, I couldn’t care less.

Very little coverage here. I only hear about it because my mother-in-law is a British ex-pat.

Why would you bring up an archaic institution with unnecessarily complicated rules that relies on an unwritten series of traditions and old boys clubs to function and is only of interest to old people from the British colonies in this thread?

No offense to your MIL but ex-pats are crazy!
She is locked into a vision of Britain as it was back when she left or when she grew up. Oddly enough, for an ex-pat, she thought that Brexit was really, really stupid.

But cricket the sport is pretty popular here with the South Asian Commonwealth immigrants.

Yes, well, I generally ignore coverage of the British royal family. I would fail most any quiz concerning it. There's the usual blather about it on TV news here and more often than not I fast forward through it, it's pretty predictably boring. Thank goodness, much of the UK populace obviously ignores it too. Where would they be without that?

So it's gonna be a long long wait until they have a real Queen again. If what's his name has a daughter as the first-born. Probably the next century.

Opps, why is she considered to be callled "Queen C*******". Diana must be turning on her grave.

Why? Chuck and Di had an arranged marriage that suited neither. Camilla was Chuck's true love before, during, and after Di.

I don't consume mainstream media, so I'm not one to ask.
I did know the coronation was due in May, but I'd forgotten until now.

But I hear he's the (future) Antichrist, so . . . uh ohs?
(skip the first 3 minutes of this, to get to the interview segment)

"all who so desire, in the Abbey, and elsewhere, [to] say together: I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God."

Looking at some online articles many are not fans of swearing Allegiance to the King.

Yeah. They can fuck right off with that! We swear quite a bit in the UK, but we don't swear allegiance!
