Opinions on the Hitachi CML174B (16ms response time) LCD

Anyone own this monitor (Hitachi CML174B)? If so, please comment on it and whatnot. I'm thinking of buying it, my 19" LCD is a bit too big for my needs and I found a local buyer for it.

Thanks. 🙂

There`s a review of that monitor here, btw same monitor just not black.

Conclusion

In conclusion I can say that this monitor is stunning. It not only displays games with no ghosting but it also gives them a whole new look due to it?s sharp and colourful image quality and it?s perfect geometry. Details are brought out that I didn?t notice with my old monitor.

This is probably the first LCD monitor that can truly be recommended for gamers due to its fast performance, yet non-gamers will similarly benefit during desktop use and for watching DVDs and video. It?s not just fast response times that are the key to this monitor getting high appraisal. Of course it?s fast, but the picture also has to look good and I feel that it excels in every department

Does this use that new LCD technology that promises faster response time at similar prices to exisiting LCDs?
FFD (Feed Forward Driver)? No, I don't think so.

OMFG! I Want that monitor!!!!!1

The games look AMAZING! So vibrant!

must...sell...kidney..to..afford...monitor...

I got one last week, and so far I'm very impressed with it. It's my first LCD, and I don't see anything to complain about. I played the UT2k3 demo on it with all settings maxed out on my 9700 Pro, and it worked like a dream. I can't imagine it looking better, in fact. The best thing of all (and not specific to this model) is the fact that my eyes don't sting anymore! Now if I only had one at work....

Wow...how did this skip by so many radars? I haven't seen any other reviews on it, but it seems to be the faster response time in a 17" I've seen, for ~$700, I think I found my new wishlist item....

Does anyone have more comments, anyone else tried this? I'd love some more opinions...

lol I have searched everywhere and have not found one U.S. vendor selling this mystery LCD...

Planar is putting out an LCD with similiar specs soon, as is Benq. When I get home I will post links to the articles. The best deal on this monitor, i think, is at www.monitorsdirect.com, they have it for $650 with free shipping. I think, personally, I'm going to wait and see if the competition from Planar and Benq drive the cost of this down.

I know this is a great LCD Display but I am a student and I need something thats like around 400, does anybody have any suggestions. I am looking for a LCD that can handle most fast paced games, I would say a response time of 25ms. If not I will have to go with a bulky power hungry radiation spitting CRT.

Wow, $650 is a good deal.

Of course, my similarly priced Samsung TFT looks pretty good in games as well... But this looks better. 🙂

Can anyone confirm what color depth it has natively? I've heard 18bit and 24bit now, and nothing set in stone.. 🙁

From the other thread (thanks, KOC):
Super-IPS TFT LCD Modules for monitors is 16,777,216 colors.
Color TFT LCD Modules for notebook PCs is 262,144 colors.
2^24 = 16.7 million colors

So, yes, its 24bit.

(I'm still waiting for larger versions.)

Any number matching to confirm those are the panels in the CML174B?

I wish stores like bestbuy had a larger selection of LCD panels so we could try them out before we bought them elsewhere for less $$ 🙂 🙂
