As stated above, I am considering this 32 MB card for a computer I am building for my father. He is not into a lot of gaming or such, but is the card decent/stable/easily configurable? He will be moving across country and I don't want any trouble with the system. Good price at Newegg for this is why I ask. I would appreciate any and all comments.

At the risk of sounding "newby-like", what does that translate into in real life? I realize that some high end games will not run as well, but doubt my father will notice that.:D If he does do some digital photography and photo manipulations will this hinder him? Thanks!

the performance of the Kyro 1 varies a lot....it's usually around the geforce 2 mx in performance but I think I saw a benchmark that put it around gts levels and the clock speed won't hinder him in photography stuff....I've heard Kyro has great image quality and crisp clear colors...

Thanks for the info, PointlesS! It would seem that this will suffice. He can always upgrade if the need arises, I just want to make sure he starts at a decent level. Any other opinions or information anyone??

I used to run a KYROI for a while before going to the KYROII, and sometime the card really did surprise me - I was shocked to discover that NOLF ran fine on this thing at 1024x768x32, and thats based on an engine that other cards seemed to have some difficulties with (judging from the message posts I've seen).

Basically, as people have said before - this is exactly the same as KYROII, just slower. 800x600x32 should be fin in most cases, sometimes 1024x768 is OK as well.
