I recently picked up 100 PNY CD-R Discs for $14.95 at Best Buy. They are marked as 1x-12x compatible-700MB/80min. Are these quality discs. I ask because I burned one copy of the game Odium which when I try to install a message pops up and states can't find one of the files on the Disc. Could be a different problem which I can figure out but I wanted opinions on the Discs. I am using the HP9110i burner. Thanks.

Are you using Adaptec software? Regardless of what software you are using, get the latest updates from there Web site. You might also make sure you have the latest firmware for your HP burner. Some software CD's have protection and when you copy them, they appear to have copied everything but they lack 1 file. Check for a protection identifier program. I have seen them on the web but don't remember the address. Sometimes slowing down the write speed helps. I also use PNY 700MB media on my Plextor 12x10x32A

Usually if it says, cant find file, you burned it wrong. Some games have burn protection in them, ex: bad files inserted into the cd on purpose since most cd burning programs ignore bad/illegal packets. Playstation games do this. Some burners cant see these packets. If you are copying the cd, do a disc to disc. Dont drag and drop the files.

I have had the fewest bad discs with nero and cdrwin. Adaptec software sucks in my opinion.

Thanks guys for the input. I used clonecd to burn the game. According to CloneCD database Odium is not a protected game.

Try nero.. It has a free demo that lasts a couple of months and you can redownload it. hehe.

Btw, i bought the 100 pack of 16x speed discs. Not a single bad one yet, but i also havent tried any disc copies.

try here for a possible work around.

i got both nero and adaptec and to me both are fine programs. i like andptec better cuz u can mace cd covers.........all of them front, back, side, cd labels. nero dosent have that, but its a cool software to use too. when it comes to copying games the best thing to do is a) copy them on ur HD and patch the .exe file with the patches that come from www.gamecopyworld.com or b)make an image (if u can) and then burn the image to the cd with the patch.......more details on how to do it from the pros go to the gamecopyworld.com site.

Just a note, Nero makes cd covers too (front back and sides). Just go to file print

I've used a lot of the PNY 80minute cdr's without any problems. I think that they are fine.

I have burned well over 300 cds on all kinds of cdr. There really isnt anything that makes one better than the other except how long the reflective stuff stays on. The best ones i have used are the kodak (gold back) with the infoguard. It seems to take them a lot longer to get scratched.

Most of the bad burns come from adaptecs import previous session. I hate that option. If you have a bad burn, it imports it and screws up your next burn. Or they came from me trying to do to much at once on my computer causing a buffer underrun.

edit....wooohoo im a senior member again.
