Ok, so my P4 2.4 northwood and radeon 9600 are showing its age.
My computer is not running games very well, even on lower settings and I figured it would be stupid to upgrade, building a new one would be better. Was going to make an X2 system but now it looks like Core 2 Duo is the way to go.

Not really into OC, though I've done it before. I just want a reasonbly fast system for games, and other multimedia.
Here is what I was thinking:

Seagate.10 320GB
Newegg" $95
ZZF: $99

DVD NEC ND-3550A Black
Newegg: $34.50

EVGA 7600GT KO
NE: $150
ZZF: $150

I'm reasonbly sure on the top 3. But not on these:

Memory, I want 2GB so I don't have to upgrade but also DDR2 800MHz, cause its the fastest, don't really care about timings.

Is there anything cheaper than this?:
If not is it any good?

G.Skill 2x1GB DDR2-800
5-5-5-15
Newegg: $153

Motherboard. I want a cheap one, so a 965 chipset, but which one?
This looks like a good deal:

Intel 965
NE: $112
ZZF: 117

Or do you think I'm better of going with the Asus P5B or Gigabyte DS3?
both are about $155.

Case& PSU: I want a combo to save money. I was thinking about This
Antec New Solution Series NSK6500

ZZF: 119$

but what do you guys think of the Antec Sonta II (also for $119)
or the Antec TX1050B for $132?

The last thing is the CPU, I'm torn between the E6400 and E6600.
Don't really know what I should get.

Thing is, I will most likely upgrade the video card in 1.5-2 years, but not the CPU, so I want one that will last me for a long time, but 350+ for a CPU seems kind of crazy to me.

If I go cheapest for all other parts it comes out to be $668 (no CPU) and I like to keep this under $1000 but I could go more if I need to, just don't know if I should. Feel free to give suggestions of other parts or other places that have better prices than these, I didn't look around too much for prices so.

Thanks, I appreciate any help/advice you can give.
