Alright guys

final thoughts and opinions

Specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (Winchester core)
Thermaltake case -- 400W (power supply)
(Thermaltake Dream Tower Series -Tsunami VA3400SWA)
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI (motherboard)
2 x Corsair Value Select Memory 184 Pin 1GB DDR PC-3200 = 2GB
Western Digital 200 GB (SATA)
LeadTek Winfast PX6600GT 128M PCI-E

So... What do you guys think. Do I have good components and good combination

if its good then Iam going to start ordering the parts.

i would get the DFI lanparty UT ultra-D instead of the a8nSLI, ive seen people have a lot of problems with the latter. i would also get 1 gig of the VS memory and a better graphics card, maybe a 6800 vanilla (just regular 6800) or an x800XL on a non SLI board. that 400W psu is probably low quality, so i would get something like the Antec 1080 AMG with a true430 w PSU.

but its up to you, and it depends on what you will be doing with your PC.

I see you said you would not be doing much gaming. In that case I guess 6600GT would be sufficient.

What exactly is the system used for that requires you to have 2GB of RAM? I highly doubt that 2GB of RAM will be worth it at all.

but when i read the review on Anandtech.com it said a8nSLI was pretty solid

but anyways i will check out the DFI and read reviews about it

My system will be used extensively for audio and video editing.

and not very much of gaming

thanks

Unless its a Raptor, Go with Seagate over WD. Better Warranty, more reliable, quieter. Get the 7200.8 series and an nForce4 based board (which you have there in the Asus). NCQ will be useful to a video editor.
