Exactly why I stopped using FP years ago and simply used notepad until about 12 months ago. I now use DW MX.

Dreamweaver no question.

Ha, just realized of all the tools in Dreamweaver that I use, I probably use the WYSIWYG view the least.

<---- stuck in code view

While I dont really care either way (hell I use both actually), I love the "opinions" that simply state "FP sucks" Give the man some background etc. as to WHY YOU think FP sucks.

Or is Front Page good enough?

Probably if you're planning on making 1 website and stopping there.
FP is fine for 99% of the "web-designers" out there today. DW is certainly more robust than FP is (although FP XP has added some nice new features) I'd say FP is easier to pick up and run with for a newbie, but if you plan on getting in-depth with web design, take the time to learn DW (and more so ultra-edit or something similar).

Once you learn how to use dreamweaver, there is no going back. Frontpage sucks.
Bingo. DW is a much better program. FrontPage is OK if you can't get anything else, but DW is so much smoother and it puts out better code.

Take a look at the HTML it spits out, it speaks for itself.

FP puts in a bunch of extra code that sometimes causes problems in browsers other than IE. As a general rule, the simpler the output code, the better. FP tends to needlessly complicate the HTML.

I realize this, however the HTML starter that posed the ORIGINAL question probably doesn't. Saying somehting "sucks" really doesnt help somebody looking for answers does it?

FrontPage is decent if you know very little about web page design and just want to throw together a basic page. When I first got into web design, I learned the basics by using FrontPage. However, I wouldn't recommend it for anything resembling "professional", because the HTML it outputs is full of unneccessary crap, among several other problems.

The final word: Go with Dreamweaver. Even better, just take a day or two and learn how to write basic HTML and just use Dreamweaver for site management and uploading stuff to the server via FTP.

frontpage is absolute crap.

dreamweaver i've heard is pretty good, but i cant afford it.

so i stick to html coding in notepad.
