Opinions on Linksys Smart wi-fi cloud based management?

It seems linksys has moved a bunch of its routers to a cloud-based approach with their firmware. This means that to manage your own router you need to create a linksys account and it is managed through their remote web interface, which in turn communicates with the router.

I have to say I have not come upon anybody online who actually liked it. I am not a networking guy, but it seems to me I would hate it also. Is it really so bad?
