this baby starts at ~28K

That's including AWD standard, but a CD player isn't.

Saw a display one once and it looks nice, looks like it costs ~50k. Nice thing about these cars is that they are rare, as opposed to BMW 3 series.

Strangely enough though, the newer civics have tighter body seams than the jag, but its not the sort of thing people notice unless you point it out.

Has the classic jag stuff like round headlamps and the Jaguar hood ornament jumping off (and waiting to be stolen...).

Nice price too. I like the looks, its something you dont see everyday. People probally will think you spent a fortune on this car if they see you driving one.

My mom wants one, but I've been trying to talk her out of it. These things aren't selling, but dealers, at least the ones here, aren't trying to move them either. The 2 she went to wouldn't move from the list price. It might have been because she's a she though. I told her to wait a week, and I would go with her. Have you gone to any dealers yet, OuterSquare?

I'd like to, but there are no Jag dealers around me.

I'm with NFS4. The BMW 3-series is a hands-down winner in the comparison, but it's also beat by just about every other manufacturer in the entry-luxury class. Audi A4, Mercedes C-class, etc. The Jag is rare because it doesn't offer the handling or refinement of the other vehicles for the price. In fact, Jaguar is likely going to ditch the X-type due to poor sales.

No question they are very pretty, and available with a 5-speed, but they do not seem to offer a whole lot else, and they are apparently plagued by build-quality issues. I would definitely take an A4 or 3-series instead.

No thanks- the build quality wasn't what everyone hoped it would be. Plus, I hate seeing FoMoCo parts bin components scattered here and there. Granted, it's still a good car, but for my twenty eight grand, I'll take an Audi A4 over the Jag any day of the week.

If you want to pay $30,000 for an entry-level Ford, by all means get the X. If you want a real car, BMW all the way.
