Opinions on external USB 2.0 CDRW

I was thinking about replacing my internal CDRW with an external USB 2.0 model. I would like to get opinions and experiences from users of external writers. Any downsides to external?

I love my (Yamaha) although I use it with the Internals, I have had no problems and it burns @ 44X, I can use it on OP's even @ the slower USB speed albiet slow.
I see no Downside for me using it.
 
I have a few usb2.0 external cases that I put internal cdrw drives in and hard drives from time to time.
I notice no difference in burn times or performance using usb2.0
