drexel's damn expensive : P

Yea, it is, but they are pretty generous with their scholarships, I get 9K/year academic, 6.5K/year grant, and 3.5K/year state grant, basically, it covers the tuition. Drexel shafts you pretty good in room and board, roughly 9K/year. That is why most people stay off campus in the many apartments in university city, its nicer and its cheaper.

Also factor in co-op. If you were in the engineering program, you would be in the 5 year co-op program, so the middle 3 years you would have a 6 month co-op period. Average pay for a 6 month engineering co-op is about $14K. That ain't bad. Drexel is a very good school that doesn't get as much recognition as it deserves. I know some people here, including a guy across the hall, who got in Penn(right next door to us), but is going to Drexel instead, because our engineering program is that much better. He is from cali even.

but you don't have aerospace 🙁

What do you mean by music scene? Like club/DJs? Cuz UMich has a great program, but we don't have the pretty ladies nor a flourishing music scene.....thus, why we're not in your list, I guess. 😉

You don't think U of M has pretty ladies? My girlfriend lives in Ann Arbor, and she's hot! Plus, I see lots of good looking girls every day! EXPLAIN YOURSELF, Joe!!! 😉

lol it's just rumor...well factual that there are TONS of hot women at asu...not that it matters, but it sure as hell doesn't hurt : P

i'm sure there are 1-2 women in michigan : P j/k.

lously wolverines 😀

I have a CS degree from ASU. Is it as prestigious as one from Carnegie Mellon? No. Does it matter anymore? No. And yes, it's true: even the ugly chicks are hot. Whether this is a ticket to flesh based pleasure or a constant, gnawing source of frustration depends on you.

If you're looking at engineering schools in Ohio, why not look at UC? UC as a university isn't as prestigious as OSU's, but I would say its engineering program is better than OSU's, contrary to the rank given by US News and World. After doing research, I chose to go to UC. One of the best reasons is its co-op program - UC was where co-op started, and it still remains to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, co-op.

i don't want to die.

last time i checked, even though uc is a good school, isn't it in the ghetto?

Yeah, UC is ghetto...but I've talked to so many people who said that they've visited OSU and it was much more ghetto than UC's.

As long as you walk with at least 6 buff friends, flaunt the fact that you carry knives, brass knuckles, and maybe a handgun, don't walk outside after 5pm, and defintely don't walk down Vine Street any time of the day, you'll be fine 😉

Seriously though, I just asked my OSU friend and she admitted Columbus is worse than Cincinnati. As for UC's campus, they're building a bunch of new buildings, so the campus is newer than OSU's and it doesn't look bad at all.

If you want a good party/girl/music scene, don't come to Iowa State University. We have a good engineering program, but it is small town Iowa after all. Umich might be good, they have great program, and Ann Arbor is a cool town. I was a hair away from going their, but it's expensive as hell.

Um, but don't get too caught up in going to a "cool" school. I know this makes me sound like a looser, but college is about learning stuff and getting your life together. You don't need to spend thousands of dollars to party. Not that partying is bad, but ask youself why you are going to college. EE (or any engineering for that matter) is no cake walk, no matter what college it is at. It's a lot of hard work. So go to a college where you will get the most out of what you'll put into it. Fun is good too, but some of these guys are a little obsessed with it I would say. Fun college becomes a lot less fun when you flunk out or can't get a job. IMHO.
