opinions on ebay buyer?

Sold a PDA phone on ebay for ~$270. The buyer is brand new to ebay, (new member) w/ 0 feedback. As soon as he won he was confused about paypal, and basically said he couldn't 'get his paypal' to work and would send a check. He ended up "getting paypal working"... and was able to send me payment through paypal. He's 'unverified', unconfirmed address, and it was an instant payment... basically a brand new paypal account.

Opinions? He already won the auction - I have no reason to doubt him. His paypal email doesn't match his ebay email, but I suspect he's young and using his parents/brothers email. I googled his address and came up with someone's myspace page that matches his last name - I think it's his (an?) home address in Sacramento.

Should I go ahead and ship?

no
no way

do not deal with him until his address is confirmed
and his account is verified

for a n00b like that , don't send unless you are 100% covered by the paypal guarantee requirements

I wouldnt.

but then agian i had one like this a year or so ago. it was a older guy who was not very good with computers etc. everything went fine. but it was for a $100 object and i was willing to take a chance (had a good feeling about the guy).

arg... HTF should I deal with this? I'd hate to end up with negative feedback. If it is legit, what is he supposed to do? He can't verify his account this quickly or anything..

The address appears to be a nice neighborhood in sacramento.. doesn't mean it's legit though I suppose.

This guy seems like a kid. His ebay name is "aznballer" with some numbers and junk - email is similar.

what is the problem with waiting for him to get the paypal account confirmed and verified? it only takes a day or something

what is the rush?
scammers almost always try to rush you so that you don't have time to figure them out

Ebay user;

I went to ship day before yesterday and noticed that you are not verified with paypal, your address is unconfirmed, and your email on the paypal account doesn?t match your ebay name.

I?d like to talk to you over the phone ? just so I know I?m not being scammed ? I?m sure you understand.

Please call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx, or email me your number and I?ll call you.

Thanks!

scammers normally have a big "i am a scammer" sign on their roof, so you just have to find their house and get an ariel view to screen them out

Getting verified takes several days, probably won't happen until the new year.

Best to just wait it out. If he is honest & wants the PDA, he'll wait the days to get verified. If he's a scammer, then he probably won't and you're definately benifiting if you don't ship.

I would wait for him to get verified. Confirmed address isn't as big a deal as everyone makes it out to be, but being verified is pretty important.

He gave me his number (I did a reverse lookup, and it's a cell phone..) I called him, he seemed to just be new to ebay and pc's in general.. He was basically like that's fine I'll go ahead and start the verification process and asked if I would let him pay for next day air after it's verified.. I was like eh, I'll just go ahead and send it.. he seemed willing to wait to get verified... bleh. I hope this doesn't come back to bite me...
