i'm looking at clear pc cases, and someone had thought there might be a high chance of static electricity from all the plastic. there's two out there that i'm looking at, this acrylic case from xoxide (which has more blowholes than i really need and costs 199) or this case from clearpc, which i can get from them direct for 99 bucks plus any upgrades i want. anyway. have any of you guys messed with one of these? i've read some reviews, but i want to hear from ppl who bought their case, not ppl who were supplied the case.

thanks.

I don't personally own one, but I know someone who does, and I wouldn't recommend buying one. They are way too fragile. You've probably heard about the problems people had with Apple's iCube outer shell scratching and cracking. Now imagine an entire case made out of this that has to bear the weight of all your components. The screw holes in the case strip very easily as well and create weak spots in the case that develop hairline cracks if you accidently hit the case. If you plan on putting your system together then placing it up high where no one can touch it or accidently knock it, you may be ok. But if you like to tinker with your system a lot or have it on the floor, you don't want any part of these cases.

Agree with Pariah's assessment - also - a plastic case loses most of the EMI shielding provided by a metal case. Besides, there is nothing pretty about the insides of a computer. Reminds me of a colonoscopy. :)

why not a really big window for a case....or the pre-modded antec clones that everyone is selling now

i have a window. it's neat and all, but the possibilites with a clear case. hehehe. i'm having second thoughts now, might go with something else instead. an antec or something.
