Opinions on Chieftec HPC420-102DF PSU

It should be basically the same as the ThermalTake 420 W of similar configuration. It's made by Sirtec as well. Note that the +12V rail specs are quite optimistic as the total between the two rails is something like 210 Watts. That would be something under 10 Amps each with both driven.

That's what I said, the +12 rails are over rated because the total power available between the two of them is only 210 Watts - that's about 18 Amps total when both rails are loaded heavily. It will never, ever be able to reach the rated numbers with both rails loaded - because the one is rated at 180 and the other at 216 max - that's a total of 396 Watts just on the +12. Never ever! If you're serious about this unit, call Chieftec and see if you can get some actual numbers. The +5 is also rated kind of high for a modern PSU - that's 200 Watts right there. Severely overrated all around...
