Yeah, you would probably be better off with a gig. In fact, I know you would be. Also, if possible, try upping it to PC400/pc3200. It will give you a bit more headroom.

Other than that... Im jealous, nice system.

Is that P4 2.8 with 800 FSB? If not, I would recommend getting a hyper threading capable processor. It really helps with mulitasking.
You might also want to get faster ram. If you are getting a retail CPU you don't need to get that Zalman, and unless you will be overclocking pretty high, the stock cooling is fine. That will free some more money up for a hyper threading CPU and/or faster ram that will allow you to use your CPU's potential.

Faster RAM (PC3200, 400 mHz), and a 'C', 800 mHz FSB, HT compatible variation of the 2.8

OK. Nice so far, but if hes a gamer, why not get an Athlon64 3000+. Same price as what you listed, but faster on games.

I would personally not use Kingston ValueRam, not the best ram in the world from my personal experience.

OOther than that, I agree that unless you plan on OC'ing, and if he was gonna get an HP that means no, the retail cooler is just fine.

Also I know over here the 9800 Pro is getting closer to $200 than anything else.
Then again I dunno how that translates into euros so :)
