Opinions on Altec Lansing ADA995 (Dell OEMS)

Overstock has these onsale for 129 w/free shipping. They match my monitor and my curtains perfectly. I am currently using sennheiser HD570s headphones w/audigy. I need speakers mostly for accurate high freq response for fps and speech.

I could possible get the Kilpsch 4.1s (no center channel) for a little less at CC. Worried about having too much bass though. (hence why i dislike Logitecs)
Or. BA 7800/7900 for a similar price. (which many AT people seem to like).

Given the amount of Dell systems out there, I'm suprised there are few reviews on this (and other Dell oem) speaker systems. They only get a brief mention in reviews about Dell pcs, but no indepth analysis. Any thoughts?

Also, reading that link someone posted in fattypocketbook linkage about plugging headphones in to a Dell auto-mutes the speaker system....how the heck does it do that?

I too am thinking about these speakers because my Klipsch 2.1s broke and I cant use these sh!tty Labtec spin 50s forever. However I cant find any reviews for these speakers 🙁

just get some klipsch 4.1s a few vendors are liquidating their stocks in favor of the 5.1 GMX series speaks

Actually looking at the reviews the BA 7800/7900 look really good....plus they not much more than the dells. But they some ugly speakers though....and i'be been trying so hard to get things to match, color-wise.

But based on those reviews, I may decide to get the 7900...the supposed klipsch killers.

Slight update....got the klipsch promedia 4.1s for 150+ tax (getting adjusted to 110 tomorrow). I know, i know, BA7800/7900 are probably better....but i was looks at the desktop thread in OT and so many people have klipschs promedias.....

Hopefully I made a decent choice for $110 speakers....

Circuit city has them on clearance in California for $108 plus tax. Check hot deals for that specific thread. NY stores where i bought them still have them for 150-170ish.
