Opinions on all-terrain Truck/SUV tires?

Currently have a 1500 Silverado 2002. Used to have the Firestone Tires OEM, then went to Toyo A/T. Both performed just fine for what I need.

Truck now is just my secondary vehicle, used for fun/necessity. I have a 97 Saturn that is my day to day driver, so to be honest, Highway and City driving isn't going to be allll that important but I don't exactly want some type of mudding tire 😉

Tire size, p265/75R/16 Uses, light to moderate trails. Will probably never do anything severe. I'm talking just stuff like using the vehicle to get me to nice areas for fishing/backpacking, etc. Not using a trailor for anything in the next 5 years.

I am currently looking at the

BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A (All-Terrain) Not bad price, good brand. Heard this tire
SUCKS in snow??? I can't really believe that. Reviews say great tread wear.

Dunlop Rover A/T (cheap price) No other info

Toyo All-Terrain (already know it works, not impressed with tread wear though) Tire lasted for about 45,000 (didn't rotate them as often as I should) over a period of 5 years.

Bridgestone Dueler A/T

Goodyear Wrangler

I've never ran the Rugged Trails, but I've had BFG All Terrain KO's on my last two trucks and I love them. You can get them from Discount Tire Direct via eBay for $702.88 shipped after 8% Bing cashback.

I lucked out and bought mine when cashback was way high..I got $200 off.. 😀

I've used the KOs for years now, going through the nastiest, rockiest terrain my offroad vehicles (Silverado 2500, Bronco, Tahoe, Durango, FJ Cruiser) have been capable of reaching. They have always held up very well. With the Silverado, they added quite a bit of stiffness to the ride over the factory tires, which I think to be an improvement. They are pretty noisy on the highway.

I have very little experience with them in mud/snow so I don't have an opinion about their performance wrt that.

I've worn out KO's in as little as 30,000 miles and have had them as long as 50,000 miles. The mode of wear has been chucks being ripped off the treads to the point where I'm not sure they are going to get me home. So, if you're not going to abuse them like me, I think 50-60k miles or more could be expected.

45,000 is decent and about average for most brands of tires. Now if you had said they only lasted 20,000
that's a different story.

we work in the oil field ( read snow, ice, mud, up mountains, etc...) and use the rugged trail T/A on all of our f-350s, about 30 or so trucks. we spend at least half our drive time off road. they hold up really well on the rocky terrain we travel often and have good traction. many of the other tires we have used get chewed up very quickly by the sharp rocks.

I believe my coworker put Pirelli Scorpions on his Pathfinder and seems to be happy with them. Haven't heard any complaints about lack of traction on snow/ice.

darn, was hoping the rugged trails would be ok!! The BFG All-Terrains are some nice looking tires, a bit expensive though. They look like they are LOUD on the highway? These look more like my speed

Not sure if everyone can see that link, but the reviews seem good. Snow traction is very important since we get alot of that and ice in the midwest

I swear by my Goodyear MT/R's, but they are more for hard off road trails.
The Kevlar lined ones are virtually indestructible.

I had the Bridgestone Dueller A/T on my Dakota 4x4 and really liked them. A friend of my has Dueller AT Revo on his Silverado and likes them.

lol, i need to stop changing my mind

these look great too.

I saw them both in store, hard to make up my mind =)

decided to go and get the Firestone Destination A/T's =D

Basically they are $127 per tire, $15 installation fee, so not bad at all IMO.
