I've got the AL2216W (AL2223WD except with HDCP AFAIK) and, honestly, it's not that great most recently compared to my Samsung 906BW. Some light bleeding on the edges, bad vertical viewing angle. Merely adequate contrast.
And I couldnt care less. Great gaming performance and high brightness so it should last a while.
Most importantly, however, is the fact that I now have a cheap 22" monitor I can mount on the wall behind my desk and view easily. That space savings at such a cheap cost was all I cared about. Realistically, you don't buy a 22" LCD for under $200 and expect an eye-popping cinematic experience. On the other hand, LCDs are all so good now, that I would find the performance from any Emprex or KDS non-name generic junk to be totally fine.
