Nice and fast, but every link below "wireless" gives ASP error:

<< Server object error 'ASP 0228 : 80004005'

Server.Execute Error

/~randal/default.asp, line 40

The call to Server.Execute failed while loading the page.

Yes, it gives errors; I haven't put in those pages yet. As for the logos, I'll strip out some of them, but a few of them I have to keep on their because of contracts the company has signed ...

keep the comments, comin'

I agree with the comment about the logos, but feel that you could maybe do something more "creative" to keep them on the page. In thier current state, they just kind of look as though they were tossed down there.

Also, I think there is a lot you could do as far as graphics are concerned. Mixing a concept like "high plains" and technology make for some cool design ideas. For example, take a look at the POP you can find in a Gateway country store, highly effective.

Other than that I like the navigation, simple and to the point. Hav you considered drop-down menus, you are already targeting the page to newer browsers using CSS so why not go the full 9 yards?

On a side note, does this remind anyone but myself of the microsft site about a year ago?

what?

As for the dropdowns, I have no idea how to code that. So far the site is 100% NOTEPAD. I do have dreamweaver and fp2000 available.

As for the MS site ... yes, there is a similarity [not afraid to say it!], but I didn't gank anything. It's all home-spun [and what a b*tch it was].

any more?

You definately need to make the logos smaller and all the same size. I like your page because its simple and fast loading. I think the hpi logo needs some work though...it looks like clipart, no offense, and doesn't match in terms of color with the top bar. The color scheme needs some work though, something more less plain. Nice page though.

I do plan on firing up photoshop and having at the logos to make them all the same size, look similar. The HPI logo will be completely redone; that's a placeholder for now [about the right size].

What do you mean it doesn't load ... any errors? What browser are you using?

thanks,
randal

Kohutek,

I wasn't trashing the MS similarity, or saying you ripped it. Just looked Similar to me. With as large of a company they are, it is not such a bad idea to "borrow" ideas from them.

Thier web folk definatley know how to design well.

well, I try ;)

Anybody have a link to how to make drop-down menus that drop down on mouseover, as seen at the topright on the microsoft.com site?

thanks,
randal

Following on the idea of 'borrowing'. Look @ the Earthlink website. Notice how the center of focus is filled with a sales message? It grabs you. The point is, effective website design(for businesses) has marketing at its center.
