Opinions on a hockey trade...

Sundin is hot and cold. Hot he is a great player and will do well. Cold... well, he stinks.

If you have him now (cold), and trade him away, Murphy's Law states he will go on a scoring streak. 🙂

well...who's going where? you getting Sundin or Straka?

I'm giving Straka and looking to get Sundin.

I think they are comparable players, but Straka may not be quite enough for the trade. I am thinking about offering Morozov as well.

Sundin is better. Straka always gets hurt. Although even if both are healthy Sundin is still better. I would even take Sundin over Straka/Morozov if you can pull off that deal.

I can understand your hesitation over Straka alone, but why over Straka and Morozov?

guess it depends on if you are a risk taker. With Sundin you know what you are getting. A guy who will play 70-80 games and score 75-85 points, 55-75 PIMs, 25-30 PPP.

Straka - probably won't stay healthy but if he is healthy should score 55-75 points also depending on Mario, maybe 20 PIMs, hard for me to estimate PPP probably a safe bet for 20-30.
Morozov - wild card, scored anywhere from 19 points in 66 games to 25 in 27 games last year. But that was because he was playing with Mario.

I guess I'm hauling out too many stats here but I'm just not sold on Morozov after looking at his career without Mario. Sundin is rock solid that's all.

That's good analysis. I guess I figure that Morozov is given for 50+ points (regardless of whether he plays with Lemieux or not). This may not be the case or it may be on the low side. No one really knows.

So who would you definitely trade to get Straka and Morozov? Ryan Smith? Anson Carter? someone else.

Question for you, should I trade Zetterberg & Morozov FOR Yashin & Torress=waivertrash

Leaves me with: Samsonov, Gagne, Nedved at LW (and I'd drop Torres for DuPuis)
Then I'd upgrade my C position to include: Niedermayer, Datsyuk, Yzerman and Yashin

Or can I get more for those two LW?

Is it a keeper league?
How many starting players for each position?
Can you give me the stats that are tracked?

[EDIT]On the surface, I would have to say no. You are giving up Zetterberg and Morozov. I have Zetterberg pegged at 55-60 points with +/- of ~10 and Morozov good for 55-60 points with a +/- of ~-8. This give your opponent at least 100 points. I have Yashin at around 65-75 points. A point differential of ~30 points. Now Dupuis might be a good pickup (~50 points for him) independant of the trade.[/EDIT]

[EDIT]For those two players, I would be hunting for a top round pick (Thornton, Forsberg, Broudeur, etc...). If you are in a league that has a restricted team size, then you will probably not get great value for your trade because the recipient will have to drop one of his other players to complete your trade. The exception to this is if the league is so deep that he can drop a 3rd and 4th line player. At this point the added value of Morozov over a checker comes into play.[/EDIT]

It is a fairly large points leauge. You start 2 C, 2LW, 2RW, 4D, 3Util, 2G....however games played for each position is 90 not the normal 82 so you play a lot of your players without worry about maxing out games played yet. We track G, A, +/-, PPP, PIM, GWG for forwards. I don't think I could get top talent for Zetterberg and Morozov (mainly b/c a lot of people have not heard of these guys unless they really follow hockey), however I think Zetterberg could be in for a big year like you said. My main goal here is to get rid of a LW and gain a C (I currenlty have only 3 C that I listed earlier and 5LW and Yzerman won't play B2B games).

BTW: did you figure out your trade yet?
