Opinions on a car

Anyone own a 2006 Mazda MAZDA6 i ? What do you think of it? Anything better in the price range that is equal to it? Any other cars like it you would suggest?

I took one for a test drive. However, I took the 6s 6 speed for a spin. So it had the 6 cylinder engine.

The first gear was kinda useless in my opinion...it had very little torque and spun up to the red line very quickly.

The car handled very nicely, drove very comfortably on the highway, and being able to put it into 6th gear was nice.

I take it you mean the 6sp auto... 6sp stick is the mazdaspeed6... which is a turbocharged I4.

the 6i's major competitiors are accord, camry, altima, sonata, malibu, G6 etc 4-cyl models.

i'd try to get a V6 sonata.

I'd say the Mazda 6 is better than any of those with the possible exception of the Altima (simply because the Accord looks like ass and the Camry is fairly boring but getting better). The Sonata doesn't come close.

Malibu and G6 are complete crap and shouldn't be included in this discussion. Edit-Actually, neither should the Sonata.

the altima's interior is sub-par to the accord/camry, as is its reliability track record. the sonata is significantly cheaper than anything the japanese can offer... and you probably won't have to pay close to the MSRP.

with that said, the V6 model is a very good value.

I checked out the G6 also, was not impressed at all.

I have an '04 6s wagon. It has ~50K miles now and has been relatively trouble-free (and rattle-free). The only problem I've had was that the front brake rotors "lipped" at ~30K miles and had to be replaced, apparently a common problem with that model. My only day-to-day complaints: I have beige cloth seats that are impossible to keep clean, and the stereo was pretty bad until I upgraded the front speakers and put in a subwoofer. Now it's pretty good. It's a V6 so it has a lot more power, but I don't use the power that much (though it pulls pretty hard when asked). I get 25mpg in 50/50 city/hwy driving, up from 23mpg when I first got it.

I know it's not exactly an '06 6i but maybe it's worth something.

I own an 06 5spd Mazda 6i. Bought it about 2 months ago. I've only put about 1300 miles on it since. So far the car's been good. One thing I dont like about it is its turning radius (its nearly impossible to park in a space without backing out and straightening it out) but thats probably because my last car was an early 90s Corolla. Unlike SearchMaster, I am quite satisfied with the stock stereo system. I dont feel theres a need for aftermarket speakers. For its price (I got mine 16K OTD) its a great car and I dont think theres another car in that price range that can compete with it.
