Opinions on a 1961-1964 classic car

So I'm 26, single (surprise! surprise!) and I need a project...nothing insane, but something that can kill some time.

I was thinking of getting a 61-64 nova and working on it...maybe get a new long block crate 350, new paint, new interior...doa lot of the work myself...something to do...

you guys have any ideas? suggestions? stories of your own?

I bought a 66 Mustang and having a lot of fun working on it...just remember, fixing one thing usually requires fixing 10 other things....that is the waya old car works....Make a spread sheet of what you think it needs, go online and find catalogs to give you an idea of what the parts cost to replace. Dont get in a hurry to get something done. Try to do it right the first time. Have fun with it. You will learn to cherish your car and it will be your baby....My project car has brought newfound happiness into my life. I enjoy the dirt, the grease, the broken stuff. Just wish i had more money to put into it. Good Luck.

If that thing's all original, including the paint, it might well be worth what he's asking.

Edit: Yeah, "turn key" means you can jump in it and go. Not a "project car" that's in need of an engine and what not.

I had a 64 impala a few years ago...

too heavy.
draws too much attention from little thugs biatchs.
waaaaaay to expensive.

Exactly the car I was going to recommend, too. They look very nice when they are customized but I agree they will attract a lot of unwanted attention as well.

It was a blast...a nice cruiser... ]

when I had mine it was broken into several times...got jumped once...

the little thugs are drawn to those thing like stink on $hit.

That, and when they are being sold people want some outrageous price for them. 🙂

aside from that, they are the ultimate cruiser. 🙂

I had a '66 Nova SS, 327 H.O. close ratio four speed.

Got to 100 fast, couldn't stop or turn worth a crap though. Top end was limited by the low gear ratios but the thing look great and ran like a scalded cat.

I've always liked '68-'69 Mercury Cougars with the sequential rear tail-lights. Cherry one out, paint it black....😀
