Ok... I've pretty much decided to get a Cooler Master PAC-T01 Praetorian.

I love the sleek design. Looks better than a Lian-Li in my opinion, no wall up top to hinder putting optical drives in, and from what my buddy has said, the Lian-Li's don't have as much space as cooler masters to hide wires.

I'm open to suggestions, but I want the same style (sleek, clean & boxy) with no front door. I have a cheiftech case now (old alienware style) and I cannot stand having a friggin door covering my drives. It messed up the gears on my burner.

Also. I would appreciate opinons on which color I should get.

Take a look at the stuff I have already: http://freakzilla.net/pics/philstoys.jpg

I'm leaning towards getting a black case... But silver looks pretty good as well. what do you guys think? Opinion on whether or not to get a window in addition would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I would recommend you get the Thermaltake Tsunami case instead. It's the best case. Go to newegg and see for yourself. It has the most reviews of any case and they're all positive. I don't know what that Cooler Master case is, but trust me about the Tsunami. I should know since I have one.

Cooler masters have crappy air filters that restrict way too much air....

I'd get a P180, its REALLY good...the air filters are easy to remove, installation is a cinch with the rails, and its ultra quiet (the 3 speed fans, and rubber gromets for mounting HDs help a lot)

This door is easily pushed onpen by an optical drive....I just tried it (its held closed by a magnet....strong enough to keep it closed, loose enough to let a optical drive push it open.

Well, its not really just the problem of having drives there. I just find it pointless and a huge waste of space when you open the thing. Just a personal preference. I'm still leaning towards the cooler master case.

The door on the P180 folds to a full 270 degrees, hence completly back and out of the way.....there are really no complaints you can bring against the p180's door setup....

well you know I find that 80mm fan in the rear of the case to be a total wste it is woefully inadequat....
If it was a 120 mm fan that would be much much better.

My opinion is unless you are water cooling you will have problems with heat related issues with this case!!

Good Luck!!

The Antec P-180 would be nicer...but

get what makes you happy!! :)

Why are you looking for opinions if you're not listening to any of them? It sounds like you just want someone to agree with you to make you feel better.

Try the CM Stacker 810 or the TT Armor if you're sick of case doors (I know I am). Also, Antec's P150 is nice and quiet and has no door either. You could also look at the CM Centurion, since it too has 120mm fans and no door. These are just a few off the top of my head, but if I was buying a case right now, I would avoid 80mm fans like the plague.

EDIT: crap what was I thinking? Go to performancepcs.com and get their Lian Li PC 7B plus with three 120mm fans. I know you said that you liked the CM's looks and cable management a little better but honestly this is the closest thing you're gonna find and it's a seriously nice case.

Goober,

For what it's worth, I happen to agree with you completely. Case doors are ok for those who don't mind them, but I find them useless and pointless.

I just built a rig last week using an Antec 3000 case that I bought at Amazon. They're selling them for $49.00 and free shipping. Another thing I liked about this particular purchase is that the case comes without a power supply, allowing you to pick out one that meets your needs.

The door on this case snaps off it's hinge and I think it looks just fine without it. You can see some pictures of this case here on NewEgg.

Alternatively, you might consider this one also from Antec, but this one comes with a power supply that may or may not meet your needs. But my understanding is that the Antec power supplies are fairly decent.

To be honest, even without a CD in the drive, I notice a definate increase in sound with the door open as opposed to closed on my SLK3000B.

Im learning to like my door for this reason :p

Thanks Elcs,

You may be right. I've been toying with the idea of putting it back on just for that reason, but I really hate the fact that I have to open the door to turn the PC on. I would have preferred to see Antec mount the power on/off switch outside of the door area.

What I think I might do is hit up my local Radio Shack and look for a micro switch of some kind and mount it somewhere on the case, wiring it in parallel with the existing switch.

Just a thought.

Well, maybe you should read the first post. I made it clear I do not want a door. Period. How hard is that to understand? There are tons of cases without doors.

Scrawny posted the type of case suggestions I'm looking for, I'm going to take a look.

That Lian Li PC 7B looks like a good case, the fact that I can get it with a window for a little less than the price of a PAC-T01 is a plus.

I didn't mean to rule out Lian Li's in my original post.
