I just dropped a Toldeo core X2 4400+ in my Epox 9NPA+ Ultra MB as an upgrade from my old 3200+ Venice. Everything running fine at stock settings but while running some Prime95 tests and watching temps I noticed some what I thought might be unusually high Vcore variations.

Idle Vcore fluctuates from 1.398 to 1.432
Loaded with Prime 95 it varies from 1.372 to 1.410

This seems excessive to me. I am running the Antec 450Watt power supply that came with my Sonata II case and have heard some rumblings that these PS's are not the most reliable/stable. Before I start trying to push my new X2, I was wondering if I need to invest in a better PS?

i cant answer that question directly...but i think also listing ur other components might be helpful in figuring out if ur PSU is up to the task

How are you watching the voltages? The only way to get reliable measurements is from a digital multimeter.

At the rate those psu's have been failing, I'd definitely look into a better one, even if it doesn't need to be a more powerful one.

The machine:

Antec Sonata II case with 120mm case fan
Antec 450 Watt power supply (came with case)
Epox 9NPA+ Ultra MB
Athlon 64 X2 4400+, Toledo Core
Thermaltake Silent 939 HSF
2 x 1GB OCZ Platinum PC3200
LeadTek PX6600GT TDH
WD 120GB, 7200, SATA2
WD 80GB, 7200, IDE
Sony 16X Dual Layer DVD

I was watching the Vcore in CPUz and what bothers me is not so much the voltage amount so much as the variation. I've got a very nice Fluke meter, and checking 5 and 12 volts through a drive connnector is easy, how would you monitor Vcore?
