So I'm ready to plunk down around $400 for a new netbook.
I have it narrowed down to a 6 cell aspire one or an Ideapad S10

Acer - Perks:
6 cell batery = the awesome
Smaller

Downfall:
PITA to upgrade, and doing so voids warranties

S10 - Perks
Super easy to upgrade
Includes an express card slot
10" screen (same resolution as 8.9")

Downfalls
Bigger
more expensive
noisy (from what I hear, but I can always throw in an ssd)

What of these two would you guys pick, or would you just wait till the next gen rolls around in January~ish with a chipset that isn't so power hungry or maybe even a little competition from AMD.

if you like both, just flip a coin 😛
not sure how much of a perk easily upgradable is. you might find that what it comes with by default is enough for you already

In my opinion, the option of having an express card slot (3g modem, internet everywhere) and easily replaceable hard drive (higher performing, lower power SSD once prices come down a bit) without having to totally gut the machine (google for videos upgrading the aspire one, its a nightmare and voids the warranty to even just add ram) is a major perk.
But so is a 6 cell batery (not yet avaiable for the S10 and no price set on what it will once available.
I know that I'd want to max out the ram right from the start though.
