This isn't America, this is the internet. No burden of proof is necessary for internet accusations. Apoppin has always spoken his mind. Frankly, I'm surprised that so many here are so worked up over this.

If true (the shills I mean), then it is a lot more serious than calling someone a fanboy, and yes proof IS necessary, considering the forum is not being compensated for paid marketers being allowed here to "sell their wares", so to speak.

Speaking about proof, ABT's latest.

Thats Terry Makedon aka CatalystMaker and Eric Demers aka sireric. On rage3D they where known to be ati reps.

So there where 2 ati reps posting with full disclosure @ rage3D, and that in some twisted way is proof that AMD is shilling on this forum.....

LOL. Good one. I also like that he took one line out of 5 paragraphs that our mod Idontcare wrote to him and twisted the context completely. Mccarthyism at its finest.

Pulling one liners and posting them in such a fashion that it completely twists / distorts the meaning. THATS THEIR MOS. (sound familiar?)

You were spoon fed, that the only reason Apoppin is taking on AMD and their viral stealth marketing tactics, is because he is mad that he didn't get a review sample, or that he was blacklisted. That is what you bought. I know that isn't the reason. You know Apoppin favors ATI/AMD. Always has and maybe always will even with whats going on. But after this, who knows.

I'm a little bit more intelligent than to let somebody "spoon feed" me into thinking something. I'm perfectly capable of reviewing the facts of a situation forming my own opinion.

Anyway look at how happy he is now, Sapphire sent sent him a video card.

This is an interesting point, and maybe it sheds some light on a situation where a forum could be immune to shilling?

I mean, does shilling succeed where groupthink/kookaid drinking is rampant?
Does shilling fail where people are too intelligent to be spoon fed thoughts?

Forums are made up of individual members so unless there is some vetting going on like an entrance test/id authentication to post you are going to get all sorts. There was a thread on the cpu section last week and still on the first page showing at least 1 member having difficulty understanding the scientific method. Some forum members who have spent alot of time and effort became more influential and have the ability to shape discussions because they are considered more trustworthy as a source. If they choose to behave badly by posting nonsense there is no real way to punish them - an example are 'trusted' fanboy AT members who in the past posted fake benchmarks.
