Keep in mind by this holiday season ,you are gonna get sick of hearing the words 3d.
If I were to buy a new monitor today, I would be looking at 3d monitors.

If I needed a monitor today, that monitor looks ok to me.

I think you may be jumping the gun a little bit on how fast 3D adoption is going to pick up and whether it will become a "must have" feature. The upfront cost is and will remain high for a while, most games and work applications do not benefit from 3D at this time, and for some people 3D makes them have headaches or feel motion sick.

3D has the potential to be very cool, but it is certainly still in its infancy. For general purpose use, games, and indeed most office type applications, a nice high quality big monitor is the way to go, and at $329, this seems to fit the bill.

Then again, I could be wrong and in 6 months I will look back and laugh at myself, but I dont think that will be the case.

I never heard of that 3d stuff. I wonder if it will just be a fad repeated over again for the 21st century, like 3d was decades ago.

My current widescreen HP A7217A CRT is on the verge of going out on me. For the first time it flickered off for me last night after occassional blue flickers over the months. I haven't turned it off in months as if I do and it cools down, it is then hard to turn it back on.

I wish it wasn't hard / expensive to get it fixed, as there still is no substitute for a CRT flat screen this size vs a LCD. I will now be forced to join the LCD masses.

Thats sucks man. I still have my crt for online gaming.

Yea, 3d at the movies now , blueray 3d at home, 3d TV's and 3d monitors, 3d video games are all gonna hit us real soon. MY guess is this Christmas.

Might be something to look into.

It's a good monitor but its not 120hz its actually highest is 76hz which I doubt you'll get if you go 1920x1080p

I would buy it, but I cant go from 2304x1440@80hz and gaming 1600x900@100hz to 60hz and 1920x1200@60hz not smooth and nice like CRT. Do some research see if you find a 120hz PC monitor. good luck but I dont think 27inch 120hz exists. Sad.... how TV's adopted this up to 240hz now for over a year.. and PC cant even do 120hz on any of their monitors.. sad sad...sad...gg and gb and tc Except this one 23 incher with 1680res thats the best they can do. hmmmmm

The Planar PX2710MW 27" monitor is now down to $230 plus tax.

Anyone wish to chime in with how good the deal is now?

I bought this monitor at 329. It had a lot of bleeding at the top and bottom. I sent it back to Dell. I think there is a reason why this monitor's price has been dropping ever since.

Thank you for your response. This is why I re-started basically a dead thread ... for opinions of a MUCH better deal than the op originally posted.

Thank you ...
