So Asus has a new 790x AM3 board http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813131402
and Im curious as to how it compares with some of the more established motherboards, particularly Gigabyte's 790x offering (http://www.newegg.com/Product/...?Item=N82E16813128378)
The only big thing I can see is that the new Asus board supports overclocking of ram to 1800 speed. I've tried searching about this all over the place and as far as Ive been able to figure out, this speed (as well as the Gigabyte's top of 1666) is only reachable through an overclock of higher speed ram.
However Im still feeling a bit in the dark about this (as well as overclocking in general). How easy/hard is this overclock to attain? From what I've read, this is done just through the BIOS, correct? Is this going to void my motherboard warranty? How noticeable with this memory speed increase be? I am planning on this being with a P2 955 cpu for a gaming system btw.
