Looks like the Lenovo T60 I just ordered. We have almost the same customizations. I vetted it very thoroughly, and it looks like a good performer.

The Mobility X1400 w/128MB is probably about the same as the X1300 I have in my backup Vista desktop. It Does everything I want it to.

I got the smaller widescreen (14.1) because it is mainly for travel, and I prefer the smaller size.

Good luck with it.

i totally object

i've seen better ****** at best buy for less than a grand

they have thin and light notebooks selling for well under 1200 USD, and screen size doesn't matter with pricing anymore for laptops, as far as you may be concerned

if you really want vista, the 2 gigs will do a good job

otherwise stick with 1 gig and hit up WinXP Pro, spend the rest of the money on a bigger battery. i don't like vista on laptops anyway

ibm if you're savvy, otherwise, there are cheaper priced notebooks out there.

the x1400 is weak if you want it to do anything spectacular. integrated graphics will save more battery life. i don't support 3rd party graphics in laptops anyway, unless it's a guru one.

good luck

I've heard good things about HP's dv6000t, and IBM/Lenovo's thinkpads are a perennial favorite, the T60 is the current model, but they are more expensive (they're also high quality too).

And . . . the T60 is the only current laptop I know of that has both a PCMCIA slot as well as a PCExpress slot. Asie from that, Thinkpads have the best keyboards in the business. Yeah - more $$$, but like always - you get what you payfor. Oh - don't forget the Ultra bay - with an adapter you can add a second HDD for cloning and safeguarding as a complete backup HDD ready to go in case of a serious problem.

I have no idea, but I think there's a decent chance. Just call and ask about it, there's a number somewhere on their website.
