Opinion on amount of ram....

Looking on Newegg at:

TwinX2048-3200 consists of a matched pair of CMX2048-3200 memory modules (1GB x 2) - around $550
Cas Latency: 3-3-3-8

or

Xtra-Low Latency 184-Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200, Model TWINX1024-3200XLPRO - almost $450

Many good things said about the 3200xlPro, but am willing to spend the extra to get a full two gig. Gaming use primarily. I just installed an AMD 64 and Epox 8kda3+ (3 mem slots), and my 1gig of Kingston value ram seems to be struggling....just some quirky stuff. (Fresh install of xp home on Seagate 120gb SATA)

FYI: All drivers and bios up to date

Opnions on whether I would be better off with the potentially higher performance of the 3200XL or going with the 2gig. pair. (or....should i even consider a third sitck of the 3200....since it's not "matched" will that matter?)

Additional thoughts or advice will be appreciated as well.

Thanks to all who consider this and reply.

Doh!...sorry to beat this dead horse....should have read more before posting...many thanks to all who have covered this topic before.

pleae disregard this post....

Thanks.

you can get 2gigs(1gb x2) of samsung pc3200 at newegg for around 450. you might want to look into that and save some money, just a suggestion. (again) because the memory controller is on the cpu ram timings dont mean much any more, but an extra gig of ram does.

Thanks very much for your opinion and the ram $ tip Wahsapa....

I kinda like the idea of 2gig myself....not from a highly informed standpoint (though more so now), but from a "wow 2 gig of ram" standpoint.
