Opinion on a new rig

Hello everyone. I'm fairly new to this forum. Been browsing here alot but always looking for something particular.
Now i have a more general question, (or a few), at hand and I hope you guys have some imput.

I'm about to buy a new system.
Have done research the last few weeks and i think i have most of the details in check but i would like to hear some opinions to hopefully learn about possible mistakes before i make them.

Case: Antec p180 (Aiming for a silent performance system and i like the separate PSU chamber.)

PSU: Nexus 500w

Motherboard: ASUS A8N32 (Mainly due to the passive cooling and I figure the don't make it worse from the A8N Premium and the price diff isn't too big i a whole system.)

CPU: Amd 64 X2 4400+ (Dual Core cause even if i play alot I'm motivating the buy with using it for work. Mostly CAD, Photoshop, 3dS.)

CPU Cooler: Scythe Ninja (Optimal for the p180 from what I've seen.)

RAM: Corsair 2x1024 3500LL Pro (Supposedly they go well with the ASUS board.)

GPU: ASUS 7800GTX TOP (Nice cooler and pre clocked.)

HDD: 2x74Gb Raptors (Don't need that much space and I get impatient too quick. I know it's not the quietest but I live next to a street so dead silence isn't neccessary.)

Optisk Enhet: NEC-3540 (No clue here really, just went with one.)

Sound: Audigy 2 bulk (I'll just throw my old card in there. Have crappy headphones anyway and I don't think the new cards are worth getting yet.)

Keyboard & Mouse: Logitech diNovo is what I'm leaning towards atm. (I want the laptop feel to the keys and diNovo is the fist keyboard that seems woth going wireless for.)

Display: Dell 2005FPW (Even though it doesn't have the lowes response times it seems to perform well enough and I really like the idea of WS in games but mainly in applications like PS and CAD.)

I'll just skip a floppy drive, haven't used mine in three years.

I'm well aware that this isn't the most bang for the buck but I don't want to ugrade again soon. If there's something you consider a complete waste of money however feel free to comment.

My main questions are basically.
1. Does everything look allright.
2. Just read about DDR2 for the M2 coming up soonish. Is this the complete wrong time to buy? (I know it's never really a good time but I don't have the knowledge to decide myself what kind of impact DDR2 for amd would have.)
3. The whole Amd vs Intel thing. I like what i read about amd but again I don't have the knowledge to decide since there seems to be a fanboi war and it's hard to find objective opinions.

Would really appreciate it if you took the time to comment since this'll ruin me and I wanna buy future proof and high performing.

Probably should add that I probably not gonna add much to this rig. Maybe a second gfx card in SLI depending on the pricing of those in the future and possibly an extra HDD. Might go for external at that time though so it won't affect what goes in the computer.

Please comment.

Thanks!

1.Pretty much...BUT I would go with a different PSU...like Antec,OCZ,Enermax,or Seasonic.
2.DDR is still the standard so just stick with it now.
3.I'm Bias on the whole Intel vs AMD since I own both of there cpus and both are great.AMD though has the higher edge on games.

Would have gone Seasonic if it was easier to get here in sweden. The Nexus I can get at the same place as the rest of the stuff.

Haven't been able to find any good reviews on the Nexus, only the lower wattage ones and they perform well.

IDK if this is the advice you're looking for, but you might want to try looking for a fanless certified case and get some fanless heatsinks and PSUs if silence is your goal.

I'll look into fanless cases. Not important enough to me with silence to go passive on GPU, have a past of running GPUs quite hot. The Ninja is planned to run passive if it can handle it.
The nexus should be silent enough I'm more concerned with whether it's a good PSU.

have that case, it's nice.

i really like the proc, want an x2. amd is so far ahead of intel on dual core

Yeah, seems that way to me. Only thing I'm thinking is that you could get similar performance with HT as of now but I really don't know about those things.
