I was just a little surprised that Tincart made a comment like that. It was an awkward thing to read, and when I said so, was met with a bit of hostility in his response. Go Figure. I didn't think he had an axe to grind or anything, and I really didn't mean anything by saying "You never know".

What on earth are you on about? You made a pretty silly mistake in attempting to interpret what I said and I clarified for you. To wit: I am assuming, based on present information, that PhysX will not be significantly more appealing to me next time I buy a graphics card.

I have no trouble explaining Hegel to undergrads and yet I am apparently having trouble explaining this simple concept to you at present. I do apologize for the sudden failure of my didactic abilities. I would get out the crayons and draw a nice little flow chart for you, but I don't have any.

Sorry for the OT, but you actually have to explain Hegel to undergrads?
- what country do you teach in?

. . . and back On topic; i'm waiting for the killer PhysX game also. Alice was improvement over earlier games in that it was better to have the effects on high imo. Before that, Batman did pretty well with it so i am interested to see what Arkham City will do.

Ok, without risking enraging you further, I'll drop it. Seem our wires are crossed.

I enjoy PhysX in games, as long as it's implemented correctly. Examples of good implementations are Batman AA, Mafia 2, Alice 2 etc..

Batman AA is probably the best, because there is a noticeable change in the atmosphere of the game with physx enabled. Playing Batman AA with PhysX on and off are very different experiences. The game feels lacking and empty with PhysX turned off.

Metro 2033 also uses PhysX to good effect, but the implementation wasn't extensive enough imo. Still, the rigid body physics and the explosions are some of the best in any game. In Metro 2033, shrapnel from an explosion will kill or injure Artyom if you're standing in the wrong place.

Hopefully, Metro Last Light's implementation will be much better, and from this video, it seems like it will be. Lots of cloth simulation in the train shootout.

Batman AC will undoubtedly be amazing, as there's so much they can do with a game like that, and Rocksteady and Nvidia have had plenty of time to do a really awesome implementation unlike the first game.

Agree with everything you've posted, and those games are the exact ones that come to my mind when I think about PhysX and games in the past few years. Other than Arkham City and Last Light, is there anything else interesting in the PhysX pipeline?

it all depends on your preference, albeit not many games can use physx...but if you really want physx that's your choice.
basically they're all the same, depends of the price/performance IMO.

It hasn't officially been offered that there is going to be hardware based PhysX in Metro: Last Light but looking at that video and this comment:

Huw Beynon of Metro: Last Light said:
Huge amount of particle effects

Sure looks like it.

The problem with PhysX titles, some are listed like Deep Black and Batman: AC with hardware support and then out of no where there were titles like the original Batman: AA and Alice, with out any pre-hype.
