Opinion needed on good online broker company

i'm planning on purchasing some stocks and wanted to open an account, but which company would be good? probably won't make many transactions, rather, i'm going to invest with long-term goals. which company does most ATOTers use and why?

i've been using scottrade since the past 7 years.
very very happy with their site and their service.
when I call them, a live person picks up the phone on the 2nd ring and is of great help each and every time.

if it's long term investing, the $7/trade won't create a big hole in your portfolio either......

Also, a referral gets you 3 free trades to start with.......

I strongly suggest u look into scottrade..

Stay away from Zecco unless you enjoy slow website and poor interface design. You also need $2500 balance in order to get 10 free trades per month, otherwise it's $4.5 per trade.
