I'm thinking of picking up a 16x10x40 Lite-On and was wondering what you all thought of it and is there anything I need to look out for i.e. rebadged drives of some sort and what I should stay away from.

Thanks

I put one in a system I built a few weeks ago for a friend and it worked totally fine for me. Worked just as well as my Plextor 16X.

Hey...Lite-On's are great drives. I've had a few and used a few in customers comps. They work fine with either Nero (which they ship with) and EZ-CD Creator. :)

No problems with them. Stay away from anything with "Justlink" in it. I went through like 5 TDK 12x10x32x in like 3 days. Couldn't get a single one to burn. :(

And if they did burn, you'd have to shut the program down, restart the comp, then it would burn a second one without erroring on you. :)

Go for anything with BurnProof. Since parts are so cheap now, what about a 24x Lite-On? :D

i have 4 liteon 24x's, 1 liteon 16x coming to me.
i'm using them to burn 600 cd's...
so if i come up successful... without coasters...
then, i'd say that it's trouble free.

i ordered 24x's ... for the speed. and i think they are worth the money.
that 16x, i purchased... only cause it was so cheap. i got the refurb one from newegg for 39.
can't beat that.

it'll all make a nice gift.

I don't want to scare anyone, because I think it's just bad luck, but my Liteon 16x dvd stopped reading discs a couple days ago...40 days after purchase, so it's gonna be fun for me to RMA it. =( It worked great up until then.

I got the 24x speed one and it has been working fine for me until recently. But I think that has more to do with WinXP as it never gave me problems before I upgraded and now my burner and normal cd-rom is randomly giving me problems
