hi there

im wondering what i should set as the MASTER...
16x40x dvd PIONNEER or the PLEXTOR12x10x23a...
also does it MAKE A DIFFERENCE where i connect them on the cables..
the middle or the end of the SECONDARY IDE cable..
is there really a big diff between 40x to 32x read speed..
i also notice plextor has a DIGITAL output..
where as pionner as only the AUDIO output..
put in mind i have a Soundworks Digital Speakers and SB X-Gamer..

my specs..

asus cusl-c
intel 866
ibm GXP 60G (primary)
asus 7100mx2 pure
SB X-gamers
SW Digital speakers

im leaning towards the plextor as the master..

any opinions welcome..thanks

Your burner should be the master. And no it doesn't matter where you connect them on the cable. At least I don't think 🙂

it doesn't matter if both drives are on the same ide channel, as long as u're not using both simultaneously...just keep the cd-rw off the same drive as the host hdd...u'll be fine.

u can set the cd-rw as slave on a channel different than the host hdd (the one u're copying data from incase u're dumb...just kidding...in case u're "exceptional&quot😉...

anyway, u get my point...even if u run the cd-rw as master and teh dvd as slave and u're running both "simultaneously", it's gonna screw up.

also, u have burn-proof anyway...so no fears.
