Opertron 170 vs 4200+

4200+. You won't see a huge performance difference but you'll certainly see the bigger amount of cash left in your wallet.
 
Back when the price was closer I went with the Opteron for the 1mb cache & better OC'ing potential, but since the AMD price cuts the 4200+ is by far the better choice... frankly the 3800+ overclocked is better still!

I bought an Opteron just as AMD was dropping the prices on the X2's. So the price was almost the same.

Somehow, I got the worst stepping that there is.
