ordered it from Monarch...i know it's not the OC'er that the other ones are but I've had my watercooling, massive OC'er days and now it's time just for good, solid performance (and a little OC'ing). =)

I will post back with my impressions but are there any tips? Do i still need to download that X2 driver so the computer recognizes the two cores?

You won't likely need the driver for XP to recognize both cores, but i still would recommend installing it.

Let me know what stepping you end up with. Newegg's order status screen seems to be conveniently out of order so I can't see the progress of my order:|

how much more can you OC before it's unsafe to? I have been reading that Operton 175 is really good for OCing. Better than x2 4400. If i'm not mistaken the Operton 175 is a dual core, similiar to the x2 4400???

All these chips OC to a certain point. Upper end is 2.7-2.8 on air. Many prefer to use the Opty 165 or 3800 X2 to achieve that. The 175s will go 2.7-2.8 on air as well but they cost more so they arent as desirable from a cost vs performance issue. Thats why people are less interested in them I'm thinking. Also AMD is now taking steps to change how these chips OC some people feel. The earlier steppings OCed easier and some feel higher than the newer current batches.

So basically Operton 165-170-and 175 OC about the same? So it will be better to get 165 or 170. How about the cache? Is 165 and 170 1mb per core?
