Being so involved with Israel/Palestine studies I haven't really taken the time to look at terrorism in the Arab world.

i basically stopped caring after the hama massacre and black september, but this really caught my interest.

For the last 4 years or so Saudi Arabia and Yemen have been dealing with Iranian-backed shia militants since 2004.

there was five outbreaks since than and 2010.

cliffnotes:

June-August: 1,000 killed

March-April 2005: 1,500 killed

February-June 2007: 560 killed

may 2008: 2008 Bin Salman Mosque bombing, 44 killed in other battles

2009-2010 Operation Scorched Earth:

cliffnotes:

so basically, yemen decided to put an end to the terrorism and launches a full-scale war against the shia houthis. then saudi arabia gets involved when the conflict spills over into its territory and several soldiers are kidnapped (we havent seen this before.)

between 2009-2010, an estimated 8,000 yemenis were killed, in addition 130 saudi soldiers and 500 houthis.

also note that the USA launched 2 dozen air raids against yemeni rebels, killing 100+, many civilians.

So what we have here is an Iranian-sponsored insurgency inside two sovereign Arab states. Where is the outrage?

10,000+ have died in this conflict since 2004, where is the news???? Seriously?!

more importantly, where is the Left?

i honestly had no idea this conflict even existed to this extent until today.
