Operation Flashpoint: Red River - Who's getting it?

So the new Operation Flashpoint is out this Tuesday (June 7th).

Who is going to get it?

I liked Dragon Rising when it first came out a few years ago but after Bad Company 2 and Modern Warfare 2, OpFlash went to the back for me.

Red River doesn't look too promising especially with the likes of BF3 and MW3 coming out this year.

Is this going to be another 'Homefront' type disaster?

I loved Dragon Rising. I guess I'm in the minority. It had some major issues, but the atmosphere made trudging through it worth it. Even so I'm still on the fence about Red River. I've read some varied opinions. If anyone who liked DR has played it, let me know what RR is like.

Dragon Rising was a fine game, it just gets a constantly bad reputation because it was a horrendously bad Operation Flashpoint. To me, it plays a lot more like a sequel to Ghost Recon, and I enjoy it in that mindset. So with that said, I'm interested in the sequel.

As for comparisons to BC2 and MW2, even with Dragon Rising being a total cop out to OFP's realism, it was still far more realistic than either of those, and played much different as a result. I couldn't take BC2 for long, when even on hardcore, men soaked bullets like crazy.

This franchise has ruined everything that Operation Flashpoint was and could of been, they have tarnished the name.

The ARMA titles are the spiritual successors to Operation Flashpoint. Dragon Rising and Red River bear no resemblance to their namesake. That being said, I've enjoyed the coop experience on both. 🙂

Red River was a pretty bad game. The graphics are sub-par and it seems that most of the work was put into the sergeant's obligatory speeches while in transport. I mean seriously, that guy just goes on and on.

Go cry somewhere else. Nostalgia is for dicks. OpFlash was great in its time - but you can always play ARMA. OF DR was a fun game.

its buggy as hell if you read the official forums(its out in other parts of the world)

the horde mode is cool
