"Operation Aborted" when viewing Anandtech with IE

As the title says, I often get an operation aborted pop up when viewing various pages in Anandtech using IE 6.0.

Is there a fix for it (short of switching to another browser)?

I sometimes get the same thing...

I'm pretty sure it's related to internet explorer 64-bit. I don't seem to get any error with standard IE. When I open a page (such as this one: http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2489 ) if it crashes, I get the error you said. If it doesn't, then at the bottom-left corner there's an icon that says there was an error. It seems to have to do with Ads that can't load.

So, my suggestion is to switch to IE32 if you're using IE64...

Weird.. the one you linked works for me, but the one I linked is still borked for me...

I suspect the 64-bit browser is the cause of my problems, but it looks like there's a different cause for you. My browser won't open anything that's script, so I often get errors. Try to view the status bar (View -> Status Bar) in IE and see if the icon turns to "error" at the bottom left. I get this often, and I think it's related to my crashing. It disappears in IE 32-bits...

I think our crashes must be related somehow...

Wow, you need that many scanners to keep spywares out? 😵
I reguarly use Spybot, and run the MS Antispyware fairly frequently too. Guess I'll give all those other tools a spin.

Still, its kind of weird that Anandtech is the only site out of all the ones I visit to show behave in this way.

Quick question. When browsing this page on Firefox (which causes the problem all the time - I fixed it once by running ad-aware, but its back), is it normal to see a redirection to altfarm.mediaplex?

I tried every cure listed on the page, to no avail, so I want to make sure it is the doing of a spyware before I post a highjackthis elsewhere.
