Operating temp Intel PIII/P4 vs Athlon XP ??

Do the Athlon XP 18/1900 CPU's run hotter than similar Intel PIII/P4 CPUs? If so, do you recommend additional cooling for the CPU and if so what kind. Thanks!

what are typical temps for p4s? i have a XP1700 at 1600 MHz and it runs at 38C idle. do P4s run cooler then that?

p4 1.6a @ 2.24, idle is around 32C (slightly above room temp), and full load is 36C, according to motherboard monitor 5 [Asus p4t-E] with stock cooling.

Generally the XP is gonna run a lot hotter, but you also have to consider what voltages they are running at.
