I just downloaded Opera, supposedly the download with Java but during use, it gives me an error "java error... download jre 1.2 or later" or something like that. According to the Opera info window, I still don't have java. hmmmm Netscape has no trouble.

Anyway, do I want to download the full java version that they suggest? What are the security implications with that?

Thx.

NS 4.x has its own Java VM.

Later versions (and I suppose Opera) use the Sun JRE/JVM. This is by far the most popular JVM, and its security track record is pretty clean. There was an issue discovered in March, but they are otherwise far and few in between, unlike with a lot of MS software.

So yeah if you need Java, go download it at http://java.sun.com (if your browser doesn't know how to do so automatically).
