Just found I can minimise Opera to the system tray with Control-H.

Has this always beeen a feature of Opera? Or is it new feature of the version 8 beta?

No, that's just when they added a new icon. The feature was added before that.
Though I have nearly every somewhat current version of Opera installed on various machines, this version is what I use most often, it seems - including my main workstation. Can say with certainty that tray minimizing is not an included option in v 7.23. Unless the feature was magically included in a later build of 7.23 prior to v 7.50 (which is highly doubtful), the very earliest this feature was offered was the beta versions of 7.50.

Had this been a discussion pertaining to nearly anything else under the sun (save perhaps mathematics), I would have to say I lack the knowledge to make such an assertion; however, I've been using Opera since v 4.x and know the older versions especially well. The minimize to tray or "hide Opera" functionality was available only by a universal third-party utility (believe it was called TrayIt, though I could be wrong there) prior to v 7.50.

Have it loaded on a test machine (actually, a test virtual machine), but have yet to really utilize it to much of an extent.

Although I do have trayit for other programs, I got it post finding this feature in Opera, which I could have sworn was prior to 7.5. Then again, I could be wrong. You are the Actuary of course.
