"As the Internet is maturing we see that most new Web sites are no longer static displays of information, but rather complex online applications that use advanced Web technologies to enable improved interactivity, speed, and services," says Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. "It is only natural that Web browsers support Web technologies natively, rather than by having to keep adding plug-ins. By integrating SVG support, Opera continues its tradition of bringing innovation to the Web and setting the de-facto standard for Web browsers."

Soon?

Where is the change log?

Have you downloaded the beta?

Nope, just wondering if there is a change log somewhere i can look at.

Hmm, I haven't looked for one, but I'd assume if you got the beta it'd come with one.

Took a look at some beta change logs and doesn't seem to have big changes. Nothing i would personally find necessary.

They must be empty then, because from what I've read there are some pretty huge additions to the browser. Go through some press releases in the last couple months on the site.

I used Opera 8 beta for a month starting around Dec., I was thoroughly unimpressed. They've out-bloated Firefox, and I'm not sure that's something to be proud of. Plenty of lockups too. :( I can't believe that Opera uses as much CPU as it does, and still manages to render so poorly as well. It was almost a step backwards, compared to the various Opera 7.x versions that I've used a few years back.

When is it coming out? BTW, it truly is a great browser, but there's no way I'm switching from Firefox (and my extensions).

Speed tests I've seen showed it to be faster than opera7 most of the time. I don't know what you mean by CPU usage or lockups, that's the first complaints I've heard of it.

It is not bloated. The file size for the download is the same as firefox, and it even uses less memory. It's a lot more efficient than firefox and requires no plugins, which is what makes it much better to get.
