Mary Jo Foley over at ZDNet has the lead on the latest information concerning the Opera Web browser, a popular alternative to Internet Explorer and the many other Web browsers on the market today. The feature list has yet to be learned, but the software will be released free of charge, possibly supported by advertising within the program. Opera will announce the new features on December 6

Hey, free is good. I imagine they'd do a pay version w/o the ads, and give decent(free?) upgrades to current users, they seem like a cool company.

Where can you get Opera? I'm always game for programs I haven't tried...

thanks! I figured opera.com would be something different :)... gonna try it now, I'm sure it would be great for my other computer which is just a P150 internet terminal.

Damn this program is sweet! I love how it doesn't open itself over and over again like IE does. It's so fast to, and it's interface is very intuitive. I need to know how to do one thing though... I have about 400 bookmarks (all organized) and I would like to get them into Opera.

I just upgraded to 5 from 4.02 and I love opera even more :)

the automatic refresh feature is awesome. In fact I'm using it right now to refresh the UPS tracking page every 5 minutes (cuz i'm an impatient bastard and want to know where my package is.)

The built in search bar is a nice addition too.

And preliminary built in icq support is a sign of good progress.

There's also a cool Validate HTML feature that submits a current webpage to w3c.org to check for html compliance and errors. And of course the Opera Home page is 100% error free :)

And of course, it's fast as hell.

Good to know that registering will get rid of the ads too :)

In Opera 5.0 open the file on your bookmarks tab and scroll down to file and choose insert internet explorer files, For navigator save your bookmarks and open opera and choose insert file.

I like this browser a lot better then MSIE. My only problem with it is when it comes to installing things like shockwave. I can't get it to install. I also have problems with some web sites, like 800.com, not looking the way it should. Is there any way to fix this?
