OpenNMS is seriously annoying as f**k.

I love the software it's free and it does pretty much what I need it to, but holy shit is it a fucking cluster fuck when it comes to documentation and how to actually implement things. Anyone here have some experience with it because I need some help trying to figure out why when I specifically say this node has this specific interface with these specific services I want to monitor on it, it adds extra interfaces and extra services I never intended to monitor for that node? For instance we have a VM Host that also runs a very small custom service for our business and I just want to monitor that nodes specific interface with that very specific service, yet it adds the VM interfaces(which are already defined in SEPERATE NODES) to that node and extra services that I don't want to monitor. It's really pissing me off.

theevilsharpie, I knew someone was going to say that 🙂 It's just such a goddamn clusterfuck trying to find any information on it and I hate having to stay subscribed to the discussion list because it floods my email box daily. I figured out this shit anyways. Basically there's another rule you have to set to fix this problem. It shouldn't even be a problem because what I want to do is basically the whole fucking point of provisioning groups. Oh well my bad for assuming this thing should work like it should and not how they programmed it.

Like I said I love this software it does everything I need, but it just annoys me constantly.
