Opening 'View Source' from web -- Can't See

When I browse the internet (Internet Explorer 6.0), and right-click > View Source .... Nothing Happens. I have MS Frontpage 2002 installed. When I go into IE > Tools > Internet Options... and click the tab Programs, I get three options under HTML Editor: MS Excel, MS Frontpage, and Notepad. None of these opens when I want to view source code. My work computer is WinXP. What gives?

Try the most expedient possible solution first -- empty your Temporary Internet Files on the General tab of the Tools | Internet Options dialog. Clearing that cache seems to get View Source working again for a lot of folks. Try that. If it doesn't work, there are other possibilities like an errant system environment setting for the temporary folder where notepad does its thing. But that was mostly an issue just in WinNT with older versions of IE, AFAIK.

Slaps my forehead -- "Doh Doh Doh Doh Doh Doh Doh Doh"

Just like you said, Prosaic, "Try the most expedient possible solution first -- empty your Temporary Internet Files". And I did that... and can't thank you enough. Thanks!

Do you have that problem, too? I have hunched shoulders and a sloping forehead. When someone asks me a question I hunch my shoulders. When I hear the answer I slap my forehead.

😉

I'm glad it worked for you.
