Opening to several tabs in FF3

When he was using Firefox 2.x, my dad found a way to have it open to 4 tabs so his favorite pages were all open without having to do anything.

He just upgraded to Firefox 3, and says it doesn't work any more. I tried but I can't figure out how to do it either. Is this not possible any more?
