opening slot a athlon....

pamf

hey all .. i recently got two slot a athlons (800 and 900) .. ive got two questions ..

first, how the heck do i open these? my p2 has a metal thing on the front holding the heatsink on through the card, but i cant see whats holding these on.. theyve got a flat metal heatsink like thing on the backs.. it looks like you're supposed to attach a heatsink to that. i could just take a screwdriver to it, but i dont want to wreck the case. ive tried looking for some overclocking guides but they all skip the step of actually opening it. so it's probably embarrassingly simple and will make me feel like a tard for not seeing it ..... 😛

and second .. does anyone know what that little square symbol is for? both of these athlons have it, and my p2 and celeron have it too .. so it cant be amd or intel specific.. image [l=here]http://bitchin.d-7.net/d/square.jpg[/] if you dont know what im talking about .. sorry about the quality but my cameras being picky about taking pictures of it .. im talking about the square thing on the right side.. im thinking maybe some 'barcode' to help against remarking? cuz theyre slightly different on each cpu..

Just take a flathead screwdriver and pry the plastic cover off gently. As I remember there are about 4 pins that you have to pop before the thing will come off. I'm sure there are guides out there because I found a few when I did it. Unfortunately I got rid of both the CPU and the links to the sites a while ago.
