Hi,

I just tried the free tunnelbear chrome extension. It works very well however with the extension still switched to "on" i opened a word document that contains sensitive data like passwords etc.. Is there any chance that with the Tunnelbear VPN still active that somebody could have seen and saved that sensitive data from that document that was open on my screen?

Aside, are there any good articles that have well reviewed Tunnelbear regarding data security?

Thanks for all good info.

It shouldn't unless they bundle malware with their plugin/client. A vpn only accesses network connections, and you're routing your traffic through their computers. They claim the traffic is encrypted, but with proprietary software, you only have their word.

Anything that passes through someone else's server could be up for grabs. Was your document read? Doubtful, but the risk is there.
